Kenalog is a corticosteroid injection used to treat severe hay fever symptoms (allergic rhinitis) when other treatments have not provided sufficient relief. It works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages and other parts of the body, which helps to alleviate common hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and itching.
How does it work?
Kenalog contains triamcinolone, which helps to control the body's immune response to allergens such as pollen, dust, or pet dander. The injection works by reducing the inflammation that causes allergic reactions, leading to a reduction in symptoms.
Who is eligible for the treatment?
Kenalog injections are typically recommended for patients who experience moderate to severe hay fever symptoms and have not had adequate relief from antihistamines, nasal sprays, or other over-the-counter treatments. A consultation with a healthcare professional is required before the treatment to ensure it is appropriate for your condition.
What to expect during the appointment
• The injection is administered by a qualified healthcare professional.
• It is usually given as a single dose into the muscle (intramuscular) of the upper arm or buttock.
• The procedure typically takes only a few minutes.
• You may be advised to remain in the clinic for a short time after the injection to ensure there are no immediate allergic reactions.
Possible side effects
Like all medications, Kenalog can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include:
• Temporary soreness at the injection site
• Changes in mood or appetite
• Difficulty sleeping
• Weight gain or fluid retention
Less common but more serious side effects may include:
• Increased risk of infection
• High blood pressure
• Changes in blood sugar levels
If you experience any unusual symptoms or reactions after the injection, please contact the clinic or your doctor immediately.
Aftercare and follow-up
• You should be able to return to your normal activities after the injection.
• It is important to follow any advice given by your healthcare provider on managing any side effects and follow-up care.

I’ve worn hearing aids for 54 years and had ear wax issues for most of this time. The GP surgery won’t do anything if they can see any part of the ear drum due to “insurance” and it was always a constant battle to make them understand that my hearing was still affected. I decided to try Veritas. From my first meeting, I found all the staff to be pleasant and friendly. They undertook an assessment of my ears and asked me to use some oil and return in 3 days. On the day, everything was fully explained and they used a combination of micro suction and irrigation. The difference was incredible! I’ve never experienced such a massive improvement to my hearing in all the years I’ve been having these procedures carried out. The pharmacist ensured that ALL the wax was removed in a painless professional way. Thanks you Veritas. You will be my go to people for this in future.
