SKINCARE CLINIC
SEASONAL HEALTH CLINIC
Kenalog is a corticosteroid injection used to treat severe hay fever symptoms (allergic rhinitis) when other treatments have not provided sufficient relief. It works by reducing inflammation in the nasal passages and other parts of the body, which helps to alleviate common hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and itching.
How does it work?
Kenalog contains triamcinolone, which helps to control the body's immune response to allergens such as pollen, dust, or pet dander. The injection works by reducing the inflammation that causes allergic reactions, leading to a reduction in symptoms.
Who is eligible for the treatment?
Kenalog injections are typically recommended for patients who experience moderate to severe hay fever symptoms and have not had adequate relief from antihistamines, nasal sprays, or other over-the-counter treatments. A consultation with a healthcare professional is required before the treatment to ensure it is appropriate for your condition.
What to expect during the appointment
• The injection is administered by a qualified healthcare professional.
• It is usually given as a single dose into the muscle (intramuscular) of the upper arm or buttock.
• The procedure typically takes only a few minutes.
• You may be advised to remain in the clinic for a short time after the injection to ensure there are no immediate allergic reactions.
Possible side effects
Like all medications, Kenalog can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects include:
• Temporary soreness at the injection site
• Changes in mood or appetite
• Difficulty sleeping
• Weight gain or fluid retention
Less common but more serious side effects may include:
• Increased risk of infection
• High blood pressure
• Changes in blood sugar levels
If you experience any unusual symptoms or reactions after the injection, please contact the clinic or your doctor immediately.
Aftercare and follow-up
• You should be able to return to your normal activities after the injection.
• It is important to follow any advice given by your healthcare provider on managing any side effects and follow-up care.

Fantastic, professional service. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, willing to go the extra mile to support patients. I'm delighted be able to hear again! Thank you Titilayo and Meobengo (apologies for the spelling!), for your kindness and consideration across what was a much longer job than any of us imagined!

I highly recommend this pharmacy! I had an ear wax removal service performed by the pharmacist Titilayo Owolana after a very unpleasant experience of having a blocked ear for over a month. I had a lot of excessive wax and she used a high quality camera to view and assess both ears, showed me the images captured and what it meant. She is extremely patient and friendly. My case was more complicated due to my history of having a perforated ear and the wax build up was extreme. She understood that and invited me for a follow up session to fully remove the ear wax at no additional cost. She is very honest and genuinely cares for patients. My hearing has never felt better, all thanks to her. The entire team is very friendly, including the lovely receptionist! Thank you again, Veritas team!
